It is easy to get lost in the music world. Simply put, there are just so many different genres and even more bands to choose from. I feel the independent scene is underrepresented in our high school. Some students here don’t venture out of the “top 10” list which, to somebody who likes music of all ‘shapes and sizes,’ it can be very saddening : (. My blog will focus on how to broaden your music palette! A typical post might include a music video from Youtube or Vimeo, an interview of a local or more popular indie band, an album review, festival reviews (such as Pygmalion Music Festival here in CU), a bi-weekly online “mix tape” for you to listen, or simply a review of last night’s concert. Posts will also include pictures of the concert and anything I might find relevant to the band I discuss. In my short time as a music writer, I have photographed festivals such a Pitchfork and Pygmalion for other publications/blogs, commissioned to make a music video for a local duo, interviewed handful of bands, and posted more headache’s worth of embedded music videos on the internet.

I will not be writing about the 10+ million hit music videos on the internet, but rather, the indie/underground music that very little of us have the fortune of listening to.

xx
