Jared’s NFL Game of the Week

This week, my game of the week is the Minnesota Vikings at the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Minnesota Vikings are (6-0), but they have had a fairly easy schedule. They have faced Cleveland, with a questionable offense, who last week only completed 2 passes. They faced Detroit, who we all know went 0-16 last year, and also faced St. Louis, who are still rebuilding with new coach Steve Spagnuolo. They just barely got by San Francisco, with Brett Favre throwing a touchdown pass with only seconds to spare. They also just got by Baltimore, and held on to their lead against the Packers. The Vikings, along with the great teamwork of Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson, have a fantastic group on defense: the the Williams brothers, Pat and Kevin, along with Jared Allen and E.J. Henderson. This is horrific if you are on offense, because they can put pressure on the quarterback at all times if they are healthy (they are, by the way).
On the other side, Pittsburgh started out pretty slow at 1-2, but finally got it going against San Diego, and the lowly Detroit and Cleveland, which puts them at (4-2). It seems that the defense thought they could handle losing Troy Polamalu, but they clearly can’t. They allowed 28 and 20 points to the Chargers and Lions respectively, that’s very weird compared for a defense that people were saying was one of the best defenses in history, before Troy Polamalu came out with an injury. Granted, the Chargers have a super offense, and Detroit has a much better offense this year, but even the regular lineup last year would’ve shut them down. On the upside though, Ben Roethlisberger has picked it up. He’s thrown for 1,027 yards the last 3 games. That’s getting it done.
So, from my analysis, I think the Minnesota defense will get to Ben Roethlisberger a few times, and Adrian Peterson will have a spotlight game, as Minnesota beats Pittsburgh 22-17.
