Music Moment: Nurses Play Courtyard Cafe

0

Last month, Nurses played at the Courtyard Cafe in the Illini Union with The Brunettes, Throw Me the Statue and World’s First Flying Machine. If you missed out on the sheer pleasure of seeing the Portland natives in an intimate concert setting, the next best thing would be to buy their latest album, Apple’s Acre.

The groups sound is pretty unique, which makes them all the more fun to listen to. Apple’s Acre, released August 4, 2009, rings true to this. Nurses could be described a psychedelic rock, but the phrase that comes to my mind when I think of their sound is quirky and eccentric, yet beautiful.

Every song is fun to listen to. They give off an almost childish, playful feel. This naive quality makes you want to dance along to each one.

Even though Nurses is pretty unparalleled, those who enjoy Fleet Foxes, Phoenix, Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer will probably fancy them, as well.
