Since January 27, 2010, Toyota has announced a large recall due defective floor mats and sticky accelerator pedals. Over 8.1 million vehicles are being recalled worldwide.

Said defective floor mats have been shown to trap the accelerator pedal beneath them, making the vehicle quickly accelerate.

Another problem with Toyota vehicles was announced this week, as well. Select Prius models have problems with their brakes. Such problems have been reported to cause four crashes and over 120 drivers have reported problems with stopping.

The recall spans 11 makes of Toyota vehicles, the Avalon, Camery, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, Prius, RAV 4, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza. Due to the number of cars that will need to be fitted with new parts, the automaker, along with private car shops, have added extra workers and hours.

If drivers of vehicles involved have more questions, they can call 1-800-331-4331 to reach the Toyota Customer Experience Center.
