April fool’s Day is a day many celebrities like to fool the public with fake rumors about themselves. But on this particular day, one celebrity didn’t have a prank for his fans. On March 30th, at approximately 2:00 AM, Austin Carlile, lead singer of the band Of Mice and Men, was arrested for a felonious attack on a Bowling Green civilian after his show there with A Day to Remember, another band on tour with Of Mice and Men, causing two shows to be cancelled (Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan.).
Many fans believed it as a prank from Of Mice and Men, knowing that Austin would not try to get arrested while on tour, but this was no prank. Carlile, along with the band’s drum tech Lionel Robinson II, were arrested after reports of a group fight. When officials arrived, they found an unconscious man with several facial injuries. Carlile and Robinson were soon detained, but released on a $25,000 bond. The victim whose name was not released was admitted to a nearby hospital with fractured nasal bones. But many wonder why Austin would do such a thing while on tour.
“I can’t see Austin doing this. He’s such a chill guy. They must have done something to make him snap.” says junior Francisco Cruz. This is partially true. According to many, the victim had said something about an OMM (Of Mice and Men) fan who has recently died of a type of bone cancer, causing Carlile to snap. No one is certain if this is true, but many believe that this is what caused Carlile to attack the victim.
More reasons of why this attack happened was that the victim, whose name is Joshua Diloreti, was arguing with a woman and Lionel got in between them and defended himself with Diloreti. But witnesses say that they saw Robinson and Carlile continue to attack Diloreti as he was unconscious.
After Carlile and Robinson were arrested and released, they agreed to appear in court again on April 15th. What could this situation do to the band? Could this pull the band off of the music business for a while due to Carlile and Robinson being arrested, or will the band find a new singer and drum tech?

  1. Nice article. I think it’s interesting how you mention that this attack might be partially the victim’s fault. You do a good job of keeping everything factual and correct.
