Justin Bieber has been a huge part of the music industry for a few years now, and he doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. Bieber is the first musician to ever have five number one albums on Billboard 200 before the age of 19. He’s also broken other records for things such as having the most twitter followers and getting the most views on a video in 24 hours. Bieber has been well known on the iTunes charts throughout his career so far, and he proves his popularity even more through his new project that he calls “Music Mondays”. “Music Mondays” has been the name for how Bieber has been releasing his music lately. How does it work? Bieber releases one of his “journals”, or songs, every Sunday at midnight for 10 weeks.

Week 1: Heartbreaker (released Oct. 7)
This song is kind of a break of ballad in some ways. You can hear the pain in his voice as he sings about the heartbreak of a relationship not working out right. In one line he says “So what I’m really tryna say is, and what I hope you understand, is despite of all the imperfections of who I am I still wanna be your man. I know it hasn’t been easy for us to talk with everyone being around, but this is personal, this is for me and you
. And I want you to know that I still love you, I know the seasons may change, and sometimes love goes from sunshine to rain. And I’m under this umbrella and I’m calling your name. And you know I don’t wanna lose that, I still believe in us.” You can see just from that little snippet the true heartbreak that Bieber was feeling, and that’s really what the song is all about.

Week 2: All That Matters (released Oct. 14)
This song isn’t as much about a break up. It’s more about just having someone who means the world to you, and how you couldn’t be the same without him or her. He sings, “You’re all that matters to me, yeah yeah, ain’t worried about nobody else. If it ain’t you I ain’t myself, you make me complete. You’re all that matters to me”. With the beat and the lyrics all put together, this song is really meaningful, and catchy at the same time.

Week 3: Hold Tight (released Oct. 21)
This song is about realizing that you have the best you’re every going to have. You have the right person, and you never want to let them go. So, hold tight. “They hold on tight, they hold on tight. Ooh, they hold on tight, them lips won’t let me go.”

Week 4: Recovery (released Oct. 28)
This song, which came fourth in the series of ten songs, is about when the trust in a relationship has been broken, and how to deal with that. It’s about accepting what happened, and focusing on getting better and moving forward. “First I’ll acknowledge our trust has been broken, a successful recovery I pray for us at night. Bless me with a second chance never thought I’d see your face again, learned a lot through trial and error I try to make it right, make it right.”

Week 5: Bad Day (released Nov. 4)
Well, this song is about a really bad day. The day a break up occurs and what the two people are feeling when that happens. When there’s nothing left to do, this day eventually comes. “Didn’t waste any time, like you had already made up your mind. No sympathy, cause I was out of line, oh yeah.”

Week 6: All Bad (released Nov. 11)
This is about how sometimes other people’s opinions of you can be wrong, and how hard it is to deal with that. All the people playing “he said she said” can get a little hectic, and that definitely can come into play in a relationship. ” Try’na tell me that I’m just like the others, but I ain’t all bad. No, no, I ain’t all bad, all bad, all bad. I ain’t all bad, all bad, all bad. I might make you mad, so mad, my bad, no, no, I ain’t all bad. Between us, they wanna comment. Your worst enemy, sometimes be your best friend. Perfect, ain’t sayin’ that I am. Proven, least I’m provin’ that I give a damn.”

Week 7: PYD (released Nov. 18)
This sultry R&B song featuring R. Kelly is a little more mature. So just read the lyrics. “From the door to the wall, coffee table girl get ready. I’mma put you down (PYD PYD PYD) All the way down (PYD PYD PYD) From the stove to the counter top dining room table are you ready? I’mma put you down (PYD PYD PYD)”.

Week 8: Roller Coaster (released Nov. 25)
This song is more upbeat, midtempo song. It’s about the ups and downs and all of the in between that are experienced throughout a relationship. It can be good, it can be bad, or it can be somewhere in the middle. And that’s what this song is all about. “Roller coaster, roller coaster, spinning all around and around for a while baby. Roller coaster, roller coaster, for a minute we were up but the next we were falling down.”

Week 9: Change Me (released Dec. 2)
This second to last song is a slower, piano-driven ballad that is mostly about just finding someone who gives you a whole new perspective. “Don’t fight fire with fire, if I’m screaming talk quieter. Understanding and patience, feel the pain that I’m facing. Be like serenity; help reposition my mind. Take a chance make a difference, in my life. Maybe you could change me. Maybe you could change me. Maybe you could be the light, that opens up my eyes. Make all my wrongs right, change me, change me.”

Week 10: Confident (released Dec. 9)
Featuring Chance the rapper, this song is also pretty upbeat. It talks about a girl who is well, confident. ” Oh no no, oh no no. She’s confident, oh no no, oh no no. And I’m down with it. Oh no no, oh no no. She’s confident, you can tell by the way she walks in the room.”

Even though Music Mondays has concluded, Bieber has plenty more surprises in store for his beliebers. Who knows, maybe he has a surprise for you as well.
