Everyone remembers the disastrous success of “Friday” by Rebecca Black and ARK Music Factory, but public opinion of the young singer seems to be swaying in her favor.

After “Friday”, Black had a falling out with ARK and created her own independent record label, RB Records. She then produced several new songs under her new label.

The quality of her music and performance seems to increase with each song. In addition, there seems to be a correlation between reverb and auto tune versus the quality of her songs. As there is less postproduction fiddling with her product, she sounds better and better.

Black recently released a YouTube video of her singing “Royals” by Lorde without any digital modification, and it showed off her natural voice, which is far better than what many people remember of her from “Friday”.

Miley Cyrus songs seem to be an interest of Black, as she has covered two Cyrus songs on her channel. She brings a classier vibe to the songs “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop”.

In addition, Black was featured on an episode of the Fine Brother’s “React” series on YouTube. The video had popular YouTubers watch her music video “Saturday” which could be considered a self-parody of “Friday”.

Her new song “Saturday” includes several references to “Friday”, one of the most entertaining being someone portraying the rapper from her original video trying to break in and being dragged away by police.

While Black still gets the occasional hate messages, she is also getting a lot of support from commenters on her videos and the ratio of likes to dislikes on her songs has dramatically improved.

People are now wondering if Black will rise from the shambles of “Friday” and become successful or fizzle out and are remembered only for the viral disaster.
