Summer treat checklist
Summer is almost here! A season we all love, it means a vacation from school and savoring the satisfaction and the memory of past summers.

Before summer is over, you must eat these five treats (or summer really isn’t complete!):
- A Popsicle. A children’s classic, it’s fresh and cools you down on hot summer days. Want to make a new memory? Make your own with simple ingredients. Try freezing cranberry, pomegranate, or strawberry lemonade for a spin on this classic!
- A Hot dog from the grill. The perfect party staple, hot dogs are cheap, easy, and delicious! The grill is the necessity here: no microwaves or pots of water allowed. To our vegetarian or vegan readers, you can definitely skip this one without judgement!
- Watermelon. Sliced, Cubed, Balled, it’s delicious on its own, but you can also add watermelon to a variety of cooling foods and drinks. Try a feta-watermelon salad, watermelon fries, or even just add a splash of lime for a new twist. For a bigger challenge, get some seeds and treat yourself to a home-grown one!
- Ice cream. Cup, Cone, Bowl, Sundae, Milkshake, the options here are endless. Vanilla is always a classic, but strawberry can also bring the summer vibes. Better yet, bring yourself back to the Girl Scout classic homemade: you’ll just need a ziploc bag, some rock salt, a handful of pantry staples, and 15 minutes!Â
- Snow cones. Syrup and ice and everything nice. Take yourself back to the simpler times with this sweet treat. Perfect for parties, the snow cone is a classic crowd pleaser. And who doesn’t like turning their tongue blue after a delicious Blue Raspberry?
