Feminists Come Together To Improve Student Body
The Feminist Student Union, started by co-presidents Hannah Bouchama and Allison (Ally) Beller, is a new place this semester where feminists can come together, advocate for, and learn about the true meaning of equality and equity.

The concept of FSU came after the co-presidents “noticed that there was a lot of adversity that women in our school face, especially in classes where female students and female teachers tend to be seen as valueless or valued less than our male teachers or male students,” said Bouchama.
The co-presidents are making it their goal to have a safe space for everyone who has felt this adversity or anyone who wants to help stop it.
“We just really want to see a change and hope we can make as much of a difference as we can,” said Beller.
Meetings are held in English Teacher Rosalie Esparza’s room, 2221, every other Friday after school. Participants can expect snacks, discussions about current feminist events and readings, and a general community of people who want to learn more about being a feminist.
Everyone is welcome at the meetings “even if you are a misogynist,” enthused Beller. “People should come to these meetings for the good, educational, conversations, and also the really cool people in the club who are smart and educated.”
