This weekend, the NBA will hold its annual All-Star weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana. On Friday night, the best of the young players will shine under the lights at the Rising Stars challenge. Saturday night is for the specialists with the Skills Challenge, Slam Dunk Contest, and Three Point Shootout. On Sunday the suspense will be over. It’ll be time for the big show, the main event: the All-Star game.

Yet already, it seems this show has been lacking.

It’s a fact teams are missing some very familiar faces from their rosters. Faces such as the now- retired Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan. Some iconic players are also missing from this year’s roster even though they  are still eligible to participate. Despite their historic body of work, these fan favorites were not elected to the team.

On the other end of the spectrum are the young players who are balling far beyond their years. Some still haven’t earned the respect of their veteran colleagues to make the big show.

Here is The Echo’s top 10 snubs of the 2017 All-Star game (West)(East) in no specific order.

  1. Chris Paul
  2. Damian Lillard
  3. Karl Anthony Towns
  4. Devin Booker
  5. Blake Griffin
  6. Dwyane Wade
  7. Carmelo Anthony
  8. Joel Embiid
  9. Andre Drummond
  10. Kristaps Porzingis

At the time of this writing, one of the East spots are open for the taking with the injury of Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love. In light of this news Carmelo Anthony has been added to the East’s roster. One snub down, 9 more to go.
