When it gets to be January or February, you know it’s Super Bowl time! This time, the Saints, coming off of a game winning field goal kick in overtime by Garrett Hartley to beat the Vikings , are in their first EVER Super Bowl. Meanwhile the Colts, fueled by a powerful running game and a precise quarterback (Peyton Manning, if you didn’t know) came back after losing by 11 to beat the Jets 30-17.

The Saints have a powerful offense and defense as we saw last week, when the Saints forced 5 turnovers, which was basically the difference in the game, and the Saints were also able to move the ball offensively with Drew Brees and their running game with Reggie Bush reemerging. They showed me that their three game skid at the end of the regular season meant nothing, and they are truly a great football team.

The Colts have been a powerhouse in the NFL for a LONG time. In fact, they’ve won at least 10 games 10 of the past 11 years! And to top it off, they’ve won at least 12 games 7 straight years! That is better consistency than even the Patriots (in the regular season). They have a Super Bowl win also (although I wish they didn’t, because they were playing my Bears). Even with a new coach they’re doing great! They’ve got some great receivers like Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and newbie Austin Collie, and obviously a great quarterback in Manning. Their defense isn’t so bad also. Dwight Freeney, and Kelvin Hayden both wreak havoc on offenses.

What will this come down to? Whichever defense is strong enough, and can the Saints focus on winning the Super Bowl, instead of celebrating like this is what they were aiming for? I predict that indeed the Saints are able to focus enough to win, but this one will be another fantastic football game. Saints win, 26-24.
