Sixteen is a small team, but in swimming it seems even smaller. The Urbana High School Girl’s Swim Team is suffering the loss of many teammates due injury and sickness that’s going around the team. Having girls out of the pool in swimming is hard because that means teammates have to double up events, which can be very tiring.

This year the team is having a good season despite the girls who are out. Junior Jenny Hill set a pool record in the 50 freestyle a couple of weeks ago and is hoping to break her own record. This year the team is hoping to send a relay to the state finals.

The team really likes there head coach Stephanie Houk who is a major part of the team and works the girls very hard. “Stephanie is a very understanding coach, but despite her girly appearance, she is a drill sergeant at heart,” said Jenny Hill

Mikhayla Eveland, sophomore, and Anna Freyfogle, junior, are having a tough time since their diving coach, Abby, didn’t return this year. They don’t have a coach, but are doing their best. “It’s difficult, but Anna and I coach each other,” said Eveland.

Next Saturday, they have the Bloomington Invite. Then the Tigers have a meet on the 30th vs. Normal Community. They are hoping to have some first-place finishes and set some records. The team has set many goals; one of them is “to all get best times and have fun together,” said Sophomore Kirsten Slaughter.
