Urbana High School’s Art Club and Green Tigers have teamed up for a new project: plastic bag crocheting. The project combines both of the groups’ interests because it is an artsy way of reusing plastic bags that might have otherwise been thrown away.

“I thought that this was a great way to combine making comfortable, reusable bags with helping the environment. It enlightened me on how much we could be doing right now to make a difference in our future,” said Sophomore Zelda Galewsky, who is a member of Art Club.

Art Club is supervised by Sarah Cardiff and Green Tigers’ adviser is Matt Sly. The groups had their first meeting about the bag project on Thursday, October 1. They will have another meeting to continue working on the bags on Thursday, October 16. New members are always welcome.earth-in-plastic-bag
