Even though 2009 is over, people are still hooked on the old decade of music. People listen to artists, songs and albums over and over again. They never get boring if you love them a lot right? Take a look back at the Billboard charts of 2009. I’m here to tell you the top artists and songs of the past year.

Owl City with Fireflies. Adam Young, the only one working the keyboard, the bleeps and other noises, created this techno piece of art. In 2009, Owl City’s hit Fireflies was playing on every station, no matter how many times you hit the SCAN button. Why did people love this song so much? Probably because of the amazing personification that Adam Young was painting in everyone’s” head, or was it the amazing lyrics? If you haven’t heard this song-which I doubt- then check it out!

Ke$ha with Tik Tok. This song is a very club like album and the song has the right amount of synthesizing and rap/hip-hop to balance out the club like genre. Everyone knew or knows the lyrics…and sings them down the hall. This song made the list because it is a very likable tune and the lyrics are addicting. Her new song Blah Blah Blah Featuring 3oh3! will soon be the newest hit! Check both these great techno-pop songs out.

Lady Gaga’s song Bad Romance was on top the charts starting the week it was released! The very weird starting caught on fast: “Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-Roma-ma-ah! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!” were soon being chanted along the streets. Gaga has presented some great songs in the past on her album The Fame, but her new album The fame Monster blows us all away.

Now time too mix it all up, give this list a little sour to all this sweet that I have made up above. I think I’ve never given a top screamo song on any one of my “top song” countdowns. So now I will turn this list a little inside-out and add my addition to this mess of music.

Chelsea Smile by Bring Me The Horizon: I love this song especially the very first few verses “I’ve got a secret. It’s on the tip of my tongue. It’s on the back of my lungs. And I’m gonna keep it.I know something you don’t know.” This song is one many people would not be very fond of unless you like screamo music. But if you have no idea who this is and feel daring look it up!

Now back too the mix I was creating until I totally added the secret ingredient, which happened to be our good friend screamo…

Let us put a little hip-hop in to this blender of a FABULOUS concoction: Young Money’s song BedRock. Everyone fell in love with Drake, Lil Wayne, or Nicki Minaj…so they LOVED this song. It was suddenly on everyone’s iPOD and you couldn’t stop hearing it on the radio. It gave everyone in the Young Money group a chance to shine. Niki Minaj gave a little a kick of humor with her short little verse of cuteness saying, “he say Nicki don’t stop you the bestest, and I just be coming off the top as bestest.” But Lil’ Wayne kept the hardcore rap and rhyme verses to the song.

To conclude my mix, I have a Seether song. He give his old group Wham’s “Careless Whisper” a vigorous, sincere redo. The original was an elegant pop ballad, but Seether turn it into a grunge heartbreaker. An unlikely hit, the song helped to renew interest in the band’s 2007 album, Finding Beauty In Negative Places , where it appears as a bonus track on the record’s recent re-release. Seether made this old song a chart topping hit.
