Four teams went into the Final Four, but only two survived. After long, hard-fought, 40-minute games, Louisville and Michigan battled it out to be crowned the champs of college basketball. Louisville came out on top.

Michigan was seeded fourth in the South Region. They beat many tough teams throughout the tournament, such as South Dakota State, VCU, Kansas, and Florida, to secure a spot in the Final Four in Atlanta.

They faced Syracuse in the Final Four game. It was a very low scoring game from the start; by halftime it was only 36-25 Michigan. Syracuse attempted a comeback in the second half, but came up short and Michigan won 61-56. Mitch McGary scored 10 points, grabbed 12 boards and dished out six assists. Even though Michigan’s star, Trey Burk, didn’t perform at the standard he normally does, they won.

Louisville and Wichita State also played. Wichita State tried to pull an upset, but they came up short and Louisville beat them 72-68. Russ Smith tallied up 21 points and three assists, while Luke Hancock got 20 points and four assists. It was certainly a great team effort by both teams down the stretch, but Louisville knocked in a few free throws to secure the game.

Athletic Director Mr. Greg Hall stated, “Louisville will come out on top because of their strong defensive play and terrific scorers, they will be hard to beat.”

That was the case this past weekend. The Final Four was a great event and we hope the NCAA will keep it like that for many years to come.
