New Principal at Urbana High School

Who has tons of cool ties, loves barbecue, and adores Urbana High School? It is our very own principal Matthew Stark! Mr. Stark is a man who has been all over. He came to our school to help improve the well-being of our student body collectively and individually.

Believe it or not, Mr. Stark’s first career choice was far from being a teacher. He wanted to be an engineer.

He laughs and says, “College started to kick in and I decided against it…The first time I decided to become a principal was when the old principal retired. It was like the job was [made] for me.”

Katira Buford says, “He seems really nice. I’m excited to see the changes he makes at our school. I hope he adds more extracurricular activities.”

Kammi Smith says, “He’s awesome! He’s the best principal I’ve had since I’ve been here!”

Mr. Stark loves traveling, reading, and playing video games. He is married with a son and daughter. He says the most influential person in his life would definitely have to be his paternal grandmother.
“She always gave great advice. You may find me quoting her often.”

At a press conference, Mr. Stark was asked what he likes the most about Urbana High School.
He says, “This school is very diverse. I love that there is so much going on.”

In closing, I would like to thank all of the people who quoted and took it upon themselves to realize what a great principal we have. I hope that the rest of our students, both present and future, will come to appreciate Mr. Stark.
