Over this past summer, Urbana High School lost a wonderful student. Jared Knispel, 16, passed away on August 4, 2013 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Knispel was known around the school as a very caring and fun person.

UHS Senior, Mary Corkery, says, “He [Jared] was always there for everyone. No matter what he put everyone else first.”

Knispel had recently moved to Plato, IL and was getting ready for his junior year of high school. Although he wasn’t sure what he wanted to become after high school, close friends say that he was leaning towards the Navy or engineering.

Even though the loss of Jared Knispel is a hard one, no one will forget what an impact he had on his classmates.
UHS Junior, Kyle Hellburg, says, “Jared was more than a friend, he was and still is like a brother to me. Jared gave me something I have to treasure now that he is gone; memories that will last a lifetime. ”

Knispel was involved in the school as well. He played golf and was in the CU Scholars Program.

The loss of Jared was definitely a tough thing to deal with, but no one will ever forget what an amazing person he was.
If anyone would like to talk about his passing, they may contact the counselors at the Urbana High School guidance office.
