Asthma is a disease that affects both the lungs of children and adults. It is considered one of the most common long-term diseases of children. One way people get asthma is having Respiratory syncytial (RSV) as an infant and it scarring their lungs. Another is inheritance,if your parent has asthma then you might too. Obesity also increases risk of having asthma

Josh Brady, freshman “I know two people with asthma. One time, I did see somebody having an asthma attack but at first i though it was just a coughing fit. Another time, someone had to go home early because of a really bad asthma attack and i was worried”

A few asthma symptoms are being out of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, and a dry and irritating continual cough. Most people have an inhaler for when they start to have these symptoms when out and about. The only problem with an inhaler is telling if it empty. Others have things like Advair Diskus that their doctor prescribed.

There are a lot of triggers that cause asthma to act up. A big one for a
lot of people is Aerosol sprays. To prevent asthma attacks, teens and adults should not wear too much perfume around schools. Stress can lead to a persons asthma symptoms increasing,or sometimes even an asthma attack if they are really stressed. Indoor and outdoor air pollutants have also been found to increase asthma symptoms. Breathing in the cold winter ear sometimes makes a persons asthma act up. Furry pets are sometimes a really big asthma trigger.
When you have a furry pet around someone with asthma, make sure it is washed every week.

Natajie Horton, freshman, “My baby cousin has asthma and one time i thought she was going to die in front of me from an asthma attack”
