It’s an exciting NFL regular season filed with controversy, scandals, and sensational plays. Now in the conclusion of the post-season, the New England Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49.

After the Patriots blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts rumors spread that the Patriots cheated during the game. It was found that of the 12 footballs belonging to the New England Patriots, 11 of them were inadequately inflated.

Now a full-blown scandal, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and Quarterback Tom Brady are at the center of the scandal also known as “Ball ghazi.”

Urbana High School Football Coach, Coach Watson stated, “it’s important to maintain integrity, but just because the patriots are known for winning it doesn’t mean that they are cheating.”

This possible scandal has a lot of evidence that proves it happened. A video was released showing Patriots staff carrying two bags of footballs into a restroom, prior to the conference AFC Championship Game, and later leaving with the same bag.

After this incident, referees said that the footballs were deflated.

This may mean that the Patriots were in fact responsible for the deflation of the footballs. But to tell if the Patriots were responsible, you have to consider the pressure gage used to measure the footballs air pressure.

Coach Watson adds that you have to consider so many factors that it would be very difficult to determine what occurred that day. Such as, “Was the gage off,” or “did the cold weather affect decrease the pressure in the footballs.”

Coach Belichick of the New England Patriots stated to Sports Nation “I believe 100 percent, we have followed every rule to the letter.”

But with the controversial video, it seems as if the Patriots had more to do with the deflation.

This scandal only adds to the more scandals that have recently risen within the NFL. Including the Ray Rice and domestic violence scandals, as well as the Bullying of players with in the organization.

After a last second turnover by the Seatlle Seahawks, the Patriots rose as Super Bowl Champions, despite the cloud that overshadowed them. The NFL continues to investigate the issue, and so far no consequences have been issued to the New England Patriots.
