Students Joined by Community Members at Today’s Walkout

At 10am today, Wednesday March 14, hundreds of students stood up and left their classes, walking across the street to Carle park.

This was the Urbana High School student walkout, where students came together and bowed their heads in silence for the victims of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

It wasn’t just UHS students who were there to support the cause, though. Many community members were outside waiting for the students who participated, clapping and cheering them on. Some of these people held up signs that said things such as “never again,” “student activists rock,” and “I support you.”
