Supreme Court turns down White House appeal

“DREAMers” or young, undocumented immigrants come from all over the world, hoping for a better life.

On Monday, the Supreme Court turned down a White House appeal to overturn lower court rulings temporarily blocking President Trump’s order to dismantle the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA.

DACA is an Obama-era program that protected some young immigrants from deportation. President Trump has been outspoken about ending DACA and possibly deporting all illegal immigrants back to their home countries, sending a shock wave around the country to undocumented immigrants.

Despite this, 700,000 undocumented child immigrants will be staying put in places like New York and California until the dust settles over, according to federal district courts.

The “DREAMers” are safe for now, but still feel unsure about the future until court cases are resolved or Congress acts to keep the protection of the immigrants.
