Want to get in mood for the Halloween season but don’t have enough money or time for complicated and intricate decorations? Well, with this simple craft you can create some interesting and cheap decorations.

All you’ll need to make these creepy skulls is a gallon jug and a simple clay or unmeltable skull as a guide. You can buy one at a local crafts store or online for a cheap price. A heat gun, hot glue, scissors, a sponge, ice water and a towel are also necessary, along with any decorations you want to add!

Step 1: Set up your guide skull in a safe place to use a heat gun and hot glue so you don’t accidentally set something on fire or melt something you didn’t mean to.

Step 2: Cut the handle off the jug and position the jug over the Guide skull with the long part over the face

Step 3: Wear gloves. To begin shaping the jug, set the heat gun on HIGH and begin to sculpt but holding the jug about 3 inches from the plastic until it turns clear. Once clear, you should be able to manipulate and shape it. Using your gloved hands, shape the plastic against the Guide skull and tuck at the cheekbones.

Step 4: Now begin to heat the rest of the plastic again until clear. Then grab your sponge and dip it in ice water. Press it gently against the plastic and press it to the Guide skull into shape. Push into the nose and eyes to deepen them, but be careful not to rip the plastic. The harder you push, the more detailed it will be, but watch out for tears.

Step 5: Now cut off the excess plastic under the mouth and tuck the remaining plastic to finish the jaw. Now you can cut the back of the skull to get it off the Guide skull.

Step 6: Use the masking tape to close up the open back of the skull, seams as close as possible, then use hot glue to close up the cut from the inside. Wait until the glue has cooled to remove the tape.

Congrats! You’ve now created a Milk Jug skull that you can customize to your preference!

If you choose to, you can even paint it like so:

Hopefully now you’re just a little more ready for the Halloween season!
