The Urbana Tiger Football team will host Normal West on October 19th for Senior Night. Not only will the seniors on the football team be recognized before the game, but the senior cheerleaders will also be recognized with them. Finally, after the halftime performance by the Tiger Marching Band, their seniors will be recognized. In total, 38 seniors will be recognized between the three groups.

As senior night gets closer and closer, seniors reflect on their favorite parts of their careers.

For senior lineman Michael Monreal, it was an upset he’ll never forget. “My favorite game I played in was during my junior year when we beat Peoria Manual 42-6. It had been a really rough season and it just felt good to put up a lot of points on the board.”

“I love leading the crowd in cheering on our teams, and it allows me to be more involved in school activities,” says Megan Rucker. Rucker is one of two senior cheerleaders this year, but strongly encourages others to join cheerleading. She says, “I have made many friends along the way and deciding to cheer at the school has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.”

Aside from cheerleaders, the Urbana Tiger Marching Band will be supporting the football team Friday night. Senior drum major Cara Munro has been participating in marching band since her freshman year. Munro, one of 18 seniors in the band, says she loves being in the band because “It’s a really cool way to express music. Additionally, the band has always been like a supportive family to me.” Unlike football and cheer, The Tiger Marching Band has one more event after senior night, and it may be the most important event of the year. They will perform in their 3rd competition of the year at El Paso-Gridley High School, at 7 pm.

The varsity football senior night game starts at 7 pm on Friday night, so be sure to come out to McKinley field and support all of our amazing seniors!
