The Boys Basketball game everybody had been waiting for this season has come and went. One of the Champaign rivals, Central vs Urbana, took place February 1 at Central High School in Champaign.

Urbana Junior Varsity tried their best, but couldn’t take the win over Central. The final score was 38 to 68, but later, Urbana had another chance to shine.

Urbana Varsity came out and played their game. After half time the game got really interesting, as Central tried to make a comeback. With a final score of 64 to 59, Urbana showed out.

Senior Payton Sheen finished with 26 points, junior Chris Cross with 15, junior Bryson Tatum with 12, and sophomore Jermale Young with 10.

Varsity put in a lot of effort. Bryson Tatum says, “I thought that all of our players executed our offense well and did a great job on defense containing centrals biggest offensive factors late in the game for us to pull a win out”.

The players had a lot of confidence in each other and just played a good game.

“It was a very amazing game, didn’t have no doubt in my teammates. We was there for the win and nothing else,” says Young.  

Cross says, “I feel like we came and fought hard regardless of not having practice for 3 days, we did what we had to do to pull out the win.

Urbana faces off next on Friday, February 8th against Peoria High School at 7:30.
