Sophomore Lanaiydia Baker is in her second year of cheer, cheering for both the basketball squad and the football squad.

Baker says, “I personally like the basketball season more. I feel like it’s a lot more fun and more people attend those games.”

At any game, she has favorite things she loves to do when cheering. “I love stunting, especially because I’m a flyer, and tumbling is a big part of why I love cheer,” says Baker.

Cheerleading will be fun while it lasts, but Baker has other future goals.

Baker cheering at the Urbana vs Bloomington Game

She just started working at Culver’s on the weekends, so she has her mind focused on other things right now as she transitions from being a freshman. Baker has a lot of future goals for herself—not cheerleading.

“After high school I don’t want to continue with cheer. I plan on moving to LA and being a paramedic, actress or model.”

Even so, outside of school, she doesn’t stop working on her cheer work. ”I usually tumble and practice on my flips,” says Baker.

Though she might not cheer for life, cheer definitely have an impact on her life so far .
