It comes down to that time of the school year, what all the students and teachers are ready for: it’s Winter break time!

Freshman Andrew Byrd says “Not only will this be my Christmas break but it’s my birthday, so I will be most likely going out of town with family and friends.”

Family and friends may come visit from out of town for the holidays, too.

“I will be chilling with some friends since my best friend’s coming back up here from Tennessee,” says freshman Lebrea Sterling.

Despite time off from school, this break is nothing special for some students.

Junior Kimani Haymer says, “I really don’t even know [what I will do]. I will take this time to plan for my birthday and spend time with family.”

Many are still focusing on school activities, though.

“I will be just spending quality time with family during my break and practicing on my cheer routines,” says sophomore, LaNaiydia Baker.

Some are even spending the time preparing for their future. Senior Tanya Smart will still be working. “I will be attending my CNA program,” she says.

For the seniors, there are also deadlines to be thinking about during that time.

“I will be doing more research on my colleges I’m looking forward to going to,” says senior Anya Jones.

During Winter break, students take the time to spend quality time with family and friends. Some come from out of town, and some come back from school. Many students have plans over the break, and their hard work doesn’t stop.

No matter how you spend it, have a good holiday, UHS!
