Pride parade returns to Champaign-Urbana

This Saturday, September 25th, is the annual Pride Fest and Pride Parade here in Champaign-Urbana. Our local Pride Fest and Parade is the second largest Pride event in Illinois and the UHS GSA will be a part of this event. Those wanting to march in the parade with our GSA are welcome to do so!

2021 marks the 40 year anniversary of the HIV/AIDS crisis. To bring awareness to this, the C-U Pride Fest’s theme this year is “What the Health? Fighting, Surviving, Thriving.” Last year’s Pride events were held virtually due to COVID-19 concerns. However this year, all Pride events will be held in person and will be mask-mandated events.

For those interested in attending the event it is Saturday, September 25. It is located in downtown Urbana this year, where Race and Main Street meet. The Vendor Fair begins at 12:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM. There will be many different booths throughout the event such as arts and crafts, merchandise, information, and nonprofit booths.

The Parade portion of the event begins at 3:00 PM. Any students wanting to march in the parade should meet at the UHS GSA booth at 2:00 PM. The parade route starts at S Busey and Green and will end at Broadway and Water.
