Thanksgiving is a time for giving, and this year Urbana student council will be doing just that as they host their 50th annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community in the commons. What makes this year even more special is that this will be their first time holding the dinner in person since 2019.

Student council members are excited to see the event come back.

“This dinner is very important to me. I’ve been doing this pretty much my whole life and I love coming back every year and seeing the people who join us every year because they love it too,” said junior Citlali Cortes-Alvarez.

During the dinner, the council hopes to see attendance at an all-time high.

“We usually had around 300 [people] pre-Covid, so we’re hoping that we can get back to that number, especially since this one is [meant] to sit down and go back to the normal dinner we host,“ Cortes-Alvarez added.

The Thanksgiving dinner is set to take place November 23rd from 4-6 PM in the Urbana High School commons. To attend, the council asks for community members to enter through door 1.

We hope to see you there!
