It’s that time of the year again, the 5 credit cards and 10 gift cards are armed and ready for late, last-second shopping, the family you only see once a year is around, and the whole house is filled with people sleeping on the floor. I’m talking about the holidays, of course!

The holidays are arguably people’s favorite time of year. It is popular with almost everybody, from consumers to companies. Most companies throw sales discounts and limited seasonal items to make some sweet holiday cash!

It’s the time when family comes together (even if you just saw them for Thanksgiving). It is also the best time for most airlines, even if it’s not the best time for passengers. Your chance of waiting 24 hours in an airport, sitting in an uncomfortable seat, wishing you were anywhere else is high, but still, Happy Holidays!

So, where is our UHS crew going for the holidays?

Freshman Keylieanna Archie is heading toward the sunflower state of Kansas!

Her former home, she says that she “gets to see family and friends that I have not seen in a while” and is looking forward to seeing “how the town I used to live in is going right now.”

Sophomore Jada Wisdom is hitting the rocky mountain state of Colorado!

She says that “it’s going to be extremely great seeing the view of all the mountains,” but while she is going for that, she is also going to visit family because she thinks that “Family is the most important part of Christmas. It doesn’t feel the same without it!”

Freshman Margaret Weber is attending a family reunion in the land of cheese: Wisconsin!

She is looking forward to the trip as “in this year, a lot was happening, and it’s important to keep that family and strengthen our bond together.”

Freshman Destinee Burden isn’t going across the country, but across the whole globe by going to China!

“It’s always been a dream of mine to go and see what it’s like over there,” she said. Adding, that it’s going to be “much more fun, better, and happier being around my family” with a laugh.

Our UHS crew will be hitting the roads (or skies!) to their destination! Let’s wish them luck. And if you’re like most of us and staying in Urbana, still enjoy your time off!
