The play Edges creates a connection with different aspects in life that people are experiencing nowadays.  These connections touch every emotional button from sadness to laughter, from deceit to redemption, and from making mistakes to learning about those mistakes.  As the play develops, each cast takes their character to a new level, exposing their inner qualities not seen earlier in the story.

Edges is directed by Urbana High School students Kendall Johnson and Maura Kinney. Only the third student-directed play at Urbana High School in 35 years, Edges follows the form of a play that transforms real life stories into an exposed tale, and showcased the talent of UHS students.

The play was set up in a way that every song was assigned to a certain story in the play itself.  The play features different stories as you might imagine it: chapters in a book where different people write about their personal experiences in their life.

Sixteen different story lines can make you mix up the situations in the play, but it’s not too hard to keep up with.  With a plotline that is easy to relate to and that teaches good lessons, it was meant for all ages.

Catchy tunes such as “Man of My Dreams” will make you crave more stunning vocals and dynamic moves from the cast.  Overall, Edges was a superb show, and the only thing that people could not wait to see is if next time’s student-directed play can live up to it.
