UHS Drama Kicks Off the New School Year

Urbana High School’s Drama Club had their first meeting after school on Tuesday, September 1. The meeting was led by sponsor Greg Chew and this year’s thespian officers (President: Kendall Johnson, Vice-President: Ellen Fred, Historian: Rachel Warren, Secretary: Lizzy Harden). The group discussed the upcoming trip to Chicago to see the production of “The Adam’s Family”, the State Theatre Festival and the student directed show Edges, which opens September 17th .  Additionally, Drama Club members discussed how to become a thespian, the history of Urbana’s drama department, the All-State production of Urinetown, plans for the homecoming parade and Tailgreat and why new members should join. The meeting adjourned with a game, cookies, and a preview of some of the music from “Edges”. Meetings are held every Tuesday in the auditorium after school. Next week (September 8) there will be a tour of the theatre and anyone interested is encouraged to come.
