If you love to read, you should join the Urbana High School Book Club.  First started in November of 2004, the club is sponsored by librarian Matthew Murray. The club is starting the school year with the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Lolita is a popular, but controversial classic.

The book club held their first meeting on Thursday, September 3rd with over 15 students attending. At this meeting they decided what book to start the year off with. Book club usually meets on the third Thursday of the month in the library. The next meeting will be held Thursday, October 22nd to discuss this month’s book. Copies of Lolita were ordered and will be in by the end of September, to pick one up come to the library.

The club is student lead, and has no president or officers. In the club, members read books that they choose as a group. After they read the book they meet and discuss the meaning of the book along with what the book was about. Then they will decide on the next month’s book.

Anyone with question or wanting to join should contact Mr. Murray in the library.
