Upcoming Concert: Hunter Valentine

Hunter Valentine is an all-girl lesbian band that originated from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They play indie rock, alternative rock, pop rock, and indie pop. Hunter Valentine has been active since 2004. The band consists of Kiyomi McCloskey, lead guitarist and singer; Laura Petracca, drummer; Veronica Sanchez, bass player; and newest member Aimee Bessada, guitarist and keyboard player.

They all currently live in New York, where they are a part of a hit reality show called “The Real L Word.”

Heather Mathews, a sophomore at Fisher High School, said, “I really like their show; I don’t really know how to describe it.”

Hunter Valentine has an upcoming concert on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Illini Union on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana. All ages are welcome. Hunter Valentine has toured with The Cliks, Dragonette, Kid on TV, Kelly and the Kelly Girls, Clothes Make the Man, Dead Letter Dept., Hexes and Ohs, Drowning Girl, Dance Yourself to Death, Sick of Sarah, and Social Code.

Hunter Valentine has released two albums: “The Impatient Romantic” and “Lesson From the Late Night.”

Candace Welch said, “I like “The Impatient Romantic” album better because that’s me.”

The band’s new album comes out in September and is called, “Collide and Conquer.”

Many are looking forward to the concert. You should go if you like these kinds of genres of music and are up for new things.
