Usually known for his hit documentary “Never Say Never,” songs like “Baby” and “Boyfriend” that amaze people around the world, being the top followed person on Twitter, and being the first 19-year-old to have five No. 1 albums ever, Justin Bieber stepped out of his usual role in social media and music to host the hit show “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 9.

Bieber opened the show with a comical introduction saying, “It’s not every year that Black History Month and Valentine’s Day fall in the same month.”

Bieber was also featured in most of the skits throughout the show, and performed twice.

“I loved his performance, it was honestly the best I’ve seen him do. Overall, it was a great show,” said sophomore Aneesah Abdulrahman.

1. The Miley Cyrus Show: Fan Club – In this skit, an actress plays Miley Cyrus while Bieber plays the president of her fan club. Throughout the skit Bieber shows his humble side, mentions how Cyrus is “light-years better than that douche Justin Bieber,” and how Bieber “looks like a lesbian” and “got busted for smoking weed, and he’s really sorry about it and that people make mistakes and he’s never gonna do it again.” This was a controversial quote after the show because Bieber was accused recently of smoking marijuana at a party.

2. Protective Brother – In this skit, Bieber plays the boyfriend of a college girl that she brings home to her family. The introduction is going well until her live-at-home bully of a brother comes in and changes it up. Bieber introduces himself to the brother and messes up, and the brother makes a huge deal until the end.

3. The Californians – In this skit, Bieber plays a runaway who lives in California. Although mocking Californians and their accents, it was overall a really funny skit. Bieber played his part well, staying in character the whole time.

4. Bieber Body Doubles – I loved this skit. Bieber made fun of himself multiple times, showing that he’s not afraid to embrace the insults he gets. In this skit, the whole cast dressed up as Bieber for security purposes. They took turns mocking Bieber’s singing and dancing, the way he walks, and even his resemblance to Ellen DeGeneres.

5. The Valentine’s Dance – In this skit, Bieber played the head of the social committee at his high school. He and his girlfriend organized the dance with the theme “Hooray For Abstinence.” Bieber, while using a lisp, talked about how kids can have fun while staying abstinent. His girlfriend agreed, funnily shaking the whole time.

6. Justin Bieber’s Valentine’s Message – In this skit, Bieber tried to impress his Beliebers by sending them a special Valentine’s Day message – although he used some very unusual tactics. For example, a grown man played a character named “Taco,” who awkwardly sat in the room. Also, a bird hit the window in the middle of the message. But Bieber made a lot of fans happy, making sure he had roses, chocolates, and much more.

I think Bieber did a very good job hosting the famous late night show. Who knows, maybe adults will give him a break and change their view of him from teen heartthrob to adult music star.
