President Obama’s State of the Union Address

This past Tuesday, the President Barack Obama gave a speech to make U.S. Citizens hopeful for 2014.

On Tuesday, January 29,2014, President Obama discussed the pitfalls of immigration, minimum wages, and taxes in the near future.
According to ABC news, the address was aimed at convincing an increasingly skeptical public that he still wields power in Washington even if he can’t crack through the divisions in Congress.

Burned by a series of legislative failures in 2013, the White House says they’re now redefining success not by what Obama can jam through Congress, but by what actions he can take on his own.
This past week was not the only time in which Obama has made citizens aware of coming changes. Last year at the election, Obama also expressed interest in altering benefits for less fortunate families and earlier this year, discussing lower minimum wage pay.
The State of the Union address was intended to be a wake up call for America. To quote MSN news, Obama says, “”America does not stand still and neither do I.”
