Last year, Clinae Campbell and the African American Club went to Atlanta, Georgia to visit historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). As part of a new tradition, this year they will be travelling to Washington DC.

African American Club (AAC) will depart February 17th to Washington DC to visit the following schools: Morgan State University, Bowie State University, and Howard University. The students will also visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture, returning on February 21st.

In addition to visiting historic landmarks, this trip gives junior and senior members unique experiences such as flying on the plane, staying with a random roomate, and the different environments and aspects of life.

There will be at least 24 students and 4 chaperones for this upcoming trip.

Many students are excited and see the trip as helpful for students. Junior Antaneice Sibley says, “I feel the upcoming trip will be beneficial to the students whom are attending.”

“I do feel this is going to help explore my options for colleges so I’m grateful for the opportunity,” junior Ashanti Williams.

“Touring colleges can help better your future instead of going off what people tell you about college,” says Sibley.

Junior Tionna Winn sees it as not just about college, but about cuture: “It’s an amazing experience for black students to view places where they fit in.”

AAC sponsor Clinae Campbell believes “To allow our students to become one with an HBCU college experience can be nothing less than life changing.”
