On September 12, 2019, the Urbana Free Library held an art show reception for young adults, children and their parents. From five to seven, people partook in free food and drinks while viewing skateboard decks that the art students had created.

“My favorite part of the art show is when people ask about my art to why I did what I did, it’s fun to reflect on the choices I made while creating my art,” said Anniah Goines, one of the artists.

Goines was one of the many talented young adults that came to show off their work to family and community members.

University of Illinois student Sharon Comstosk was there to support all the hard work that the young artists had accomplished.

“I think for once the young adults create it [the art] and it is a real unique art show to me,” she said.

Urbana High School art teacher Rachel Mueller said, “Just being able to see teens do art outside of school [is great] and I love that the teens display at the Urbana Free Library.”

Even those without artwork hanging up enjoyed being a big part of the event. Hopefully this partnership with the Urbana Free Library continues.
