With her global streaming concert coming up on December 17 and 18, many of Melanie Martinez’s fans, also known as “crybabies,” are gearing up to see her perform in CAN’T WAIT ‘TILL I’M OUT OF K-12.

Whether you’re new to Melanie Martinez or a die-hard fan, here are 10 songs you should definitely listen to before the big event.

10. “Dollhouse”

Let’s go back to the beginning to 2014 when Melanie Martinez released her debut single “Dollhouse.” It has been a long time but crybabies are still loving it. “Dollhouse” is a song about everything not being as good as it seems. All you need is to peek inside to see the reality.

9. “High School Sweethearts”

Nice, sweet song or is it? Follow all the steps or suffer the consequences. From the album K-12, “High School Sweethearts” is very sweet with a twist. You must follow all the steps to be the “one,”  but don’t you dare try to break someone’s heart.

8. “Field Trip”

Bringing the mystical into the material, “Field Trip” is a more personal song. Although it is personal, it is still a relatable song that shows how she feels about herself and about who she is, something we can all relate to.

7. “Lunchbox Friends”

Some people are just good to avoid if you want to have a true friendship. “Lunchbox Friends” is about avoiding people who don’t seem to care about you and finding the people who will truly be your friends until the end.

6. “Numbers”

Numbers all day, numbers all night; numbers is the longest song in the album After School but is definitely worth listening to. It’s about being treated as just another number when you aren’t just a number, you are a human being but other people won’t or don’t see that.

5. “Training Wheels”

“Training Wheels” is a more gentle, loving song. It is hard to tell that special someone that you love them but little by little your love for them keeps growing until you just have to let out your feelings. Just like training wheels, you grow up and suddenly you are ready to just let them go.

4. “Test Me”

Every day is a small test, something different, perhaps something you learn and you shouldn’t be afraid of. “Test Me” is about the challenges of life and how they are just like tests that you and only you have to go through.

3. “Notebook”

Write this down on your notebook. “Notebook” is a song about a breakup and how you shouldn’t do everything for a person if they take you for granted. You can’t do everything for a person if they don’t appreciate you, so hopefully they have “learned” enough from you to not mess up again!

2. “Orange Juice”

This is a more serious song, but many crybabies appreciate the importance of a song that talks about an eating disorder. In the film “K-12,” Fleur, one of the characters, struggles with bulimia and dislikes her body but Crybaby (Melanie Martinez) assures her that there is nothing wrong with it and helps her love herself. The song is for anyone, but especially for people who have or are going through something similar to Fleur.

1. “Glued”

Last but not least, is “Glued.” “Glued” is about being stuck to someone, stuck thinking about someone, someone you love. This might seem good until you stop seeing what you should and end up getting hurt. The feeling of love is good but not when you stop loving yourself just a little too much.

These are only 10 fantastic songs to listen to from Melanie Martinez. Be sure to listen to these songs if you are a new “crybaby” and for the rest of the crybabies out there, get ready to get out of K-12!
