In October of 2021, students and staff were told that ID scanning would become a part of the school’s safety plan in the coming weeks.

On January 10, 2022, the school began test runs of the system at Door 1. After encountering some glitches, implementation was delayed.

At the time of this writing, the school as a whole has yet to experience ID scans. According to Assistant Principal Julie Blixen, “The delay is caused by a software issue and training SRS’s on the software now that it is installed. We plan on using the new scanners mid-next week.”

The delay, though confusing to some, has had little effect on most. Many students still do not see the point of ID scanning.

“I don’t think there are that many people who are coming here who aren’t at this school. If other people know something that I don’t, [then] it’s a very big problem, I would understand. But in my personal opinion, I don’t think we need it right now,” said senior Samuel Birdsley.
