Underclassmen in previous years had been required to have their lunch hour split in half: One half being dedicated to studio time,  the other half being time in the cafeteria. This school year, freshmen and sophomores are no longer required to have studio time during their lunch hour as long as their grades prove that they would not benefit from it. Currently, only approximately 4% of students still have studio time.

With more time spent in the cafeteria during his lunch hour, sophomore Reuben Birdwell feels there is more time to socialize and hang out with other students. When studio time was required students did not have this opportunity.

Because his grades are strong, he stated that “Honestly the studio time for me was pointless.”

However, now that there are more students in the cafeteria during 4th and 5th hour lunch, there are more chances for chaos to erupt.

Desiree Bond, another sophomore, commented on the change in lunch as being “Very reckless, very loud, and very crowded” in relation to the larger number of students in the cafeteria.

Despite this, the 4th and 5th lunch hours appear to be much more enjoyable to students now.
