If you ever wanted to be in a video game or see actual people in it, then this is the movie for you. Crazy screenplay from the guy that brought you “Hot Fuzz”. When I heard the main character Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) was battling 7 evil exes I wondered if they could turn a whacky preview into an awesome preview, but this movie was very interesting and yet very good!

Taking place in Canada, the movie gives us a sort of cold heartless but yet entertaining experience. I’m all for different but, this is crazy-good different. The movie opens up with Pilgrim dating a high school girl, Knives Chau (Ellen Wong), and all of his friends cracking jokes at every mention of him bringing her up. Not to mention the most personal attacks by Pilgrims gay roommate/bestfreiend Wallace Wells (Kieran Culkan) who is this movies major screen stealer, giving you a laugh at every second with his serious but weird charm? Even though Pilgrim has Knives at his side, another girl comes along an takes his heart (you figure out the solution). Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) the American girl who steals the heart of Pilgrim, starts an ongoing war for her love.

7 battles Pilgrim has to face and they all look amazing! With great special effects at every corner and amazing battle scenes, this movie is the funny, loving, charming, and most video game like movie of the year. Pilgrims wits and genius boy charms can only get him so far but as he fights for the love of the girls he fight for himself along the way!
