“God is good!!!” tweeted the newlywed; her first tweet as a married woman that is.
If you didn’t already know, 30-year-old Kimberly Kardashian Humphries, known for being herself, tied the knot with 26-year-old NBA player Kris Humphries on August 20 2011, at a private estate in Montecito, California. The wedding reportedly cost $20 MILLION DOLLARS. However, various sources say it was $30 million. Amber James from Celebuzz, reported that the couple wed before, “450 guests in a black and white ceremony.”
“The over-the-top ‘fairytale wedding’ was attended by hundreds of celebrity guests,” said Spencer Cain, from StyleCaster. Celebrities like, Demi Lovato, Mario Lopez, Ciara, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Avril Lavigne, Beyonce, Kanye West, Serena and Venus Williams, Ali and Lindsay Lohan, George Lopez, and of course, Vera Wang, the woman the designed all 3 of Kim’s wedding dresses, all attended.
“Saturday was completely magical and I couldn’t be happier right now. I’ll never forget our special day and I want to thank all my friends and family for making the day so special. I love you all,” posted Kim Kardashian on her website.
Now, as you may know, there have been sayings that Kim Kardashian was pretty much trying to copy Kate Middleton’s wedding; considering the fact that a ton of websites had been taking polls on whether Kim’s wedding would be the wedding of the year.
Sophomore Ellie England, agrees with the fact that Kim Kardashian was in fact trying to make her wedding as similar as the royal wedding. “I get that every girl wants her wedding to be like Cinderella’s wedding for instant; full of diamonds, everything sparkly and beautiful things everywhere you look. But to me, Kim just made some things seem so unnecessary. In fact, her “fairytale” wedding makes me doubt if she even got married for love, or to just have the wedding,” said England.
Josh Duboff from OMG News, reported that, “The cake was insane. It cost $20,000 and was taller than Kim by about a foot.”
“The crazy thing is that no actually ended up eating the gigantic cake, because they served a different cake to guests!” added England.
Freshman Glodie Musinga agrees with England, saying that, “Kim should know that sometimes less is actually way more.”
To make things a bit easier to understand about Kim’s wedding in numbers, here are some of the expenses made for the wedding, reported by Lindsay Powers from The Hollywood
Reporter:
-$2.5 Million: Price of Lorraine Schwartz headpiece she wore to walk down the aisle.
-$10 million: Cost of Schwartz jewelry she wore on her wedding day.
-$5 million: Worth of her 28-carat earrings.
-$200,000: Cost of Kardashian’s wedding band, which consists of 15 carats of emerald-cut diamonds.
-$150,000: Price of Kardsahian’s hair, makeup and grooming, as reported by Us Weekly.
-Although the price of each Vera Wang gown is unknown, sources say that they dress Kim wore down the aisle cost around $25,000.
“The dresses were so gorgeous, and watching those beautiful girls walk down the aisle… absolutely stunning,” said Julianne Hough, actress, dancer, and singer-songwriter.
“I definitely do not know why Kim had to make her wedding way to extravagant. But then again, the Kardashians never do anything small, especially not weddings, but sadly for Kim, the wedding of the century has already happened. No reality show is going to top that” said Sophomore Alisa Evans.
“I’m just glad she didn’t make Kris to wear the same thing Prince William wore at his wedding,” said Senior Hannah Kahai.
Although others have their opinions about the wedding, Sophomore Tafadzwa Diener seems to disagree with them. “I’m not going to try and bash their wedding, that’s obviously not going to change anything. I’m happy for her, and I really hope her wedding lasts a long time… I mean, who wouldn’t want a marriage to last forever?” said Diener.
Eva Longoria also seems to agree with Diener. “I am so happy that Kim found the love of her life. I hope they live a long happy life together filled with great fun, adventure and love. Congrats to the Lucky Couple!!!” tweeted Longoria right after the wedding.
Stephen M. Silverman from People magazine, reported that, “E! News will air footage from the wedding Sunday at 6 p.m. ET/PT, and a two-part special, Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, will air Oct. 9 and 10!”
