Currently, in the United States there are around two million kids who are being homeschooled. Students who are homeschooled believe they are more up to learning more on their own than they are in public school. Because some say it can be done at a student’s own pace and they are self-directed because they do not have to rely on others for their education.

Over the years, since 1999, the rate for kids being home schooled has increased by 75%.

Other reasons why parents would rather have their kid’s home schooled is because their national test scores are more likely to be higher by about 30%. Which also means their GPA is more likely to be higher as well.

Home schooling may be good for educational reasons, but in the end what is going to help the students more; home schooling or public schooling?

Even though some may say public schooling may have negative impacts on students, in the end, it helps them the most, on a social level and maybe a educational level as well. If a student does not want to learn or be present in their education, even being home schooled they are not going to want to do it.

Test scores may be lower in public schools, and the media may make public schooling seem like it is bad. When a student says they do not want to come to school, sometimes it doesn’t physically mean they don’t want to go. It could mean they are lazy, want more sleep, or have family stress.

In my opinion, students like to come to school to socialize with their friends and peers. For public schooling there is so many more options of classes you can take, or you can even talk to your counselor and talk about online classes you can take, too. Even though, school is not social hour, coming to school you see a lot of things that you are not going to see in your own home environment. Such as, you see the new trends in clothes, new types of music, new students, you get to meet new people if your classes do groups work. Coming to a public school can affect a child in a way home schooling cannot. A child wants to be able to talk with people during school and take the classes they want to take.

If you’re home schooled then you have to take the basic classes, but when going to a public school you have many elective choices as well.

Some students prefer to be home school because at home they know they are not going to be judged, an that they can be comfortable in their own settings. But when you go to public school you can have the possibility of getting judged. But also, you can get judged just by being walking out in public in any place.

Home schooling provides the student with a comfortable environment and people they are used too. While a public school can show a student more things on a social level that if you are home schooled that you cannot experience. Also, allows them to experience more with classes and get to see more things.
