It comes that time of the year when 9th through 11th grade students get nervous about taking standardized testing. The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a practice SAT for freshmen and sophomores, while the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is the real test to help decide what colleges and universities juniors can get into. 9th-11th graders will take the test Tuesday, April 9th.

Many of the juniors have different feelings about the upcoming SAT test. Junior Ashanti Williams says, “I’m a little nervous, I feel like we should have had a few more months of practice instead of just a few weeks,” but Junior Cameron Emery disagrees by saying “I’m excited for it. I figured from everything my teacher been teaching me it’s setting me up to be successful.”

Junior Kamaria Cooper says, “I feel like it’s going to be hard, but if I study and prepare my mind I will make it through.”

Some freshmen and sophomores are not nervous about the upcoming PSAT. ‘It’s just a practice one to see what area I need help in,” says freshman Lanaiydia Baker.

Students need to study and be prepared in order to receive a good score the first time. “I’m kind of nervous but there’s websites that I use to help me study such as Khan Academy,” said Junior Tionna Winn. Juniors can take the test as many times they want. Schools will always take the highest scores so that will relieve some pressure.

Goodluck to the 9th-11th graders on testing day, and seniors enjoy your day off.
